We have always used Zazar's zRSSFeed plugin for jQuery to provide Today's Readings. On Dec 2, we learned that the plugin relied on the Google Feed API, which was officially retired that day. Until I can find a suitable replacement for the zRSSFeed plugin (or develop my own), I'm substituting a direct link to the Daily Mass Readings from Universalis.
Couple minor tweaks to the 'Request Prayer' and 'Scripture' sections, cleaned up some text. Also, added a 'Fear of the Lord' collapsible element to the 'Special Verses' section.
Recently I've been bringing the HTML5 Web Speech API into the site. This is 'bleeding edge' at the moment, and like all such APIs, browser support is limited. As you can see, the only browsers that currently enable Speech Synthesis are Chrome, Safari, and Opera.
I'm experimenting, trying to find a natural expression within the site, beginning with the Scriptural Rosary (due Q4 2015). I like the manual approach, tapping to advance as you normally would. My wife favors a fully automatic mode, too, where you tap once and the voice reads the entire Scriptural Rosary to you from beginning to end. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Added a 'Liturgy of the Hours' section. It's weak, I know, just a bunch of links; but I can't navigate Universalis very well, and I think the content is really valuable, so I came up with this compromise. :-)
Added a 'Psalms for Meditation' widget to the 'Confession' page, and some new verses at the top and bottom of the page.
